Vermont’s best kept secrets are in the fabled Northeast Kingdom. Here’s how to find them!

As 2017 draws to a close, the snow gods have blessed our local Northeast Kingdom ski resorts with lots of snow. With the holidays soon behind us, it’s time to think about waxing the skis and snowboards and heading for the slopes. With Jay Peak and Burke Mountain easily within an hour or so of both our lodging locations, “ski & stay” is easier than ever!

#3, 4 & 5. Take Part in the Kingdom Games

The new year 2018, starts off with a number of exciting events such as the Memphremagog Women’s Pond Hockey Tournament on February 10 & 1th. Memphremagog Winter Swim Festival held on February 23, 24, and 25. In March, the Memphremagog Ice Skating Festival takes place on the 3rd and 4th. The Kingdom All Stars team of student musicians was featured live in concert this year in the Vermont State House, on Vermont Public Radio and at the Rising Star Showcase at Lyndon State College. Members come from nine public and private schools in northeastern Vermont. The band features six new members this year, including the first ever from Danville. Their music is a blend of popular and rock music with its roots in blues, R&B, gospel and country music.

The Kingdom All-Stars have been featured on WCAX Channel 3 and Fox 44 television, The Caledonia County Fair, Somersworth International Children’s Festival, and the Discover Jazz Festival in Burlington. This event takes place on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 10:30am at Fuller Hall, St. Johnsbury Academy, 1000 Main Street,St. Johnsbury, VT. Visit the Catamount Arts website for more details.

#7. Stepping Out with the Dublin Irish Dancers

Direct from Dublin, Ireland — a dance troupe of world champion Irish step dancers together with a sensational eight-member traditional Irish band and vocalist.

Dublin Irish Dance is an exhilarating company whose members have performed throughout the world with Riverdance, Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance, and Celtic Woman. The all-star cast brings to life the epic tale of Celtic culture, carrying its traditional melodies and steps to the New World with a gala celebration of Irish Music and Dance.
